USA Softball National Team Player Caitlin Lowe Trains the Shamrocks
On March 16th, Caitlin Lowe gave our slappers 5 hours of personal instruction which was FANTASTIC. We will be working with Caitlin again this year and have scheduled this twice a year for our slap specialists. The Shamrocks were thrilled to have the chance to work with Caitlin, she was amazing for our girls. A few of Caitlin's accomplishments:
- 2008 Silver medalist at the Olympic Games in Beijing, China
- 2007 Gold medalist at the Pan American Games
- Two-time World Cup Champion (2006 & 2007)
- Four-time NFCA All-American (2004 - 2007) at Arizona
- Two-time National Champion (2006 & 2007) at Arizona
USA Men's Softball National Team Member Doug Gillis Holds a Training Session for the Shamrocks Pitchers and Catchers
Shamrocks pitchers and catchers trained with Doug Gillis for an intensive and informative session. Doug is an accomplished pitcher at both national and international levels. The Shamrocks seek to develop the best players in softball. Here are a few of Doug's accomplishments:
- Head Pitching Coach/Consultant for University of Missouri
- Six time member of Team USA
- 2010 International Softball Congress All-World Pitcher Selection (the only American selected to this team)
- Internationally Certified
- Gold Medal 2002 Pan American Games
- Silver Medal 2003 Pan American Championships
- Lead pitching instructor for International Softball Congress
- 5th Place on the all-time ASA Major National tournament wins
Howard Kabata Holds a Training Session with the Shamrocks
The Shamrocks invited Howard Kabata to come for a program wide training session over the winter. Howard provided excellent and intense workouts and skills training to the entire program. The Shamrocks are committed to development and play at the highest level for all of our players. Howard has quite a "style" about him, his methods and techniques are excellent, but also make quite an impression on our players. There is only one Shamrocks, Go Rocks!
The Shamrocks at Georgetown University
Many thanks to Head Coach Pat Conlan and Assistant Coach Erica Ayers and the Hoyas for hosting 18U, 16U, and 14U Shamrocks during Shamrocks Day at Georgetown University on Sunday, February 4th. The ‘Rocks were treated to a tour of the University and question and answer session with Hoya players Senior MacKensey Carter, Junior Shikara Lowe and Sophomore Elyse Graziano. The Shamrocks also stayed around to watch Georgetown practice. It was a great day! Good Luck to the Hoyas in 2012.
18U Head Coach Tom Sims Passes Away
 It's with great sadness to report that Shamrocks 18U Head Coach Tom Sims passed away on November 21, 2011 after a long illness. He had stepped in to take over in the summer of 2010 after longtime 18U Head Coach Tommy Orndorff retired from coaching. He is survived by his 2 daughters, 18U player Kate Sims and Ally Sims. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time. The Memorial and Internment will be private.
