June 11-12 Shamrocks WIN 2011 ASA 16U STATE CHAMPIONSHIP, never losing a game in tourney!
After a major re-organization and huge roster turnover, the newly recruited and led 16U Shamrock team returned to tradition and prior habits rooted in success. This team sprouted from the hallowed ground under the house that the SHAMROCKS built!!! Quickly, it was apparent, this was no ordinary team, as predicted early in 2011, this 16U Shamrock team would be a force to be reckoned with nationally. With a record number of our girls unavailable for play early in the softball season, due to participation in the STATE AAA championship process, the 16U teamed emerged for their first challenge on the weekend of June 11th & 12th. We emerged on a mission, to win the ASA state championship and make a statement to the softball community. Two goals, both clearly achieved. With a perfect record, no losses and the ONLY team to never dip to the losers bracket, the VERY BEST teams in Virginia at the 16 level battled to test the "Rocks" and perhaps win the title for themselves. With stunning pitching and an offense riddled with short game and gap shots, the rocks rolled thru the tournament from start to finish. The combination of the pitching battery and the offense was no match for challengers. Winning the tournament meant obtaining a bid to the ASA National Championship in Chattanooga, TN at the very first chance for any team in VA. Defending the 2010 ASA 16U championship, a year which included a 14U ASA championship as well won by a portion of the current roster, this year was again a tribute to the success of the Shamrocks program. A 39 year tradition of unbridled success at the national level cannot by bought but only earned and this ASA tourney was yet again another demonstration of why we say "THERE IS ONLY ONE SHAMROCKS!" Congratulations to this truly spectacular team, who now will prepare for the nationals while attending some of the best showcase tournaments in the country during the time between now and the first week, of August!
