Al Anch - Manager | E-mail: [email protected] |
A native of Kansas City, Missouri, Al and his family currently reside in Sterling, Virginia. Although the 1998 campaign marks Al's first year with the Shamrock organization, he has a great deal of playing and coaching experience in both baseball and fastpitch softball. He also played 3 years of fastpitch softball in the early 1980s.
Als coaching experience includes 5 years of Senior Little League Baseball (13-l5yr. olds) before he began coaching youth softball in 1989. He coached youth softball in the Sterling Organization through 1994 before he and daughter Christy joined the 12U Vienna Stars in 1995. In 1995 and 1996 Al was the assistant (hitting/pitching/3rd base) coach of the 12U Stars who attended ASA Nationals both years and finished l3th at the 1996 Nationals in Altamonte Springs, Florida. In addition to preparing the 14U Shamrocks for the 1998 tournament season, including the highly competitive Fireworks Tournament in Denver, Colorado and the prestigious ASA National Tournament in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Al will be working his 5th consecutive Shamrock Camp this summer as a pitching instructor under the direction of Tommy Orndorff and also making his high school debut this spring as an assistant softball coach under Tommy Orndorff at nationally ranked Bishop Denis J. OConnell High School in Arlington, Virginia. Daughter Christy is in her second year with the Shamrocks.
It promises to be a very demanding year but I am anxiously looking forward to the opportunities ahead, especially the challenge of providing our very talented youth with a legitimate opportunity to compete on a national level - consistent with their desires and goals. |
